How much does it cost the Military to replace a dismissed Gay soldier? What is the expense to the American Government, and essentially the American People to recruit, train and bring another soldier up to the skill level of a Dismissed Gay Soldier, generally? |
It costs a great deal of money to train, depending on career field/MOS, and you can't really quantify the value after years of additional training/experience... it is a waste of money and a loss of a priceless asset. So many heteros state that if drafted, they will dodge or claim to be gay or whatever it takes to get out of it, and then there are gays who want to serve... breaks my heart really.

Dating a soldier. Is it now legal for a gay soldier to openly date. I love men in uniform.? I have the major hots for guys in uniform. now that dadt is repealed, do you think there will be gay soldier websites up to find a life partner? |
WOWWW! wait there little buddy! before you go on and start to knock in a barrack's door! I would hold out a bit longer before you get beat up by someone. This is going to take a verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry long time to implement. Even the Pentagon .....admits change will not take place immediately and depending on the unit.
give it sometime! |
Soldier! If you can be naked in front of a female doctor, why not in front of a gay soldier in the shower? If you are a male soldier and don't mind being naked in front of a female doctor (for the sake of your own health) how come you are so afraid to be naked in a shower together with a gay soldier (for the sake of your country)? Do you value your country less than your health? |
Well spoken.
I personally cannot believe they still even have that rule in the US Military. In Canada, there is no rule about homosexuals serving in the military because it is utterly ridiculous to treat them any differently than anyone else. We have the Charter of Rights and Freedoms as an amendment to our constitution, and no doubt would any ban on homosexuals in the military violate the Charter. My fiance has a gay man on his crew in the Air Force, and no one has a problem with it apart from the guys who are homophobic and immature. The American military's policy on homosexuals serving is clearly homophobic and dated. |
Who would you rather solute: a gay military soldier or a homophobic military soldier? I'd salute a gay military soldier over an anti-gay military soldier. |
| Yup. Homophobia is no different than racism. |
Military men: If you are straight and partnered with a gay soldier when 'out and about' in a war zone? Would you protect that gay soldier in combat as you would a straight counterpart?
Have you ever served in a combat zone with a gay soldier and did you feel the same kind of comradeship and sense of protection that you would be offered by a straight colleague? Would you offer that same protection to a gay soldier?
(Professionally speaking, of course) |
My roommate in Germany was gay, and I felt no difference about him as I did with any other soldier I worked/trained with. I didn't worry about him back in the barracks nor in the field. He didn't join our unit until after we came back from Desert Storm, but I still don't think it matters if a person is gay or not, as long as they do their job.
He was a good friend. |
Does Lady Gaga care about the US military soldier or only gay soldiers? If "Don't ask don't tell" is repealed, will she give a USO tour? Will she meet and greet soldiers when they come home from war? Will she listen to some of the war stories special forces fighting terrorist have to tell? Will she spend just a little time visiting wounded soldiers or is this sympathy only for a select few? Does she hold prejudices or hate, or maybe just indifference to the common faceless soldier without a special cause. |
| Who cares what she thinks. She is a singer. Go to her concerts, listen to her songs but never take your political or social cues from a media creation. |

| I do not know his name, and yes I think he is cute. |
Service for adopt deployed gay soldier? I have seen web pages out there where you can "adopt" a soldier. Was not sure if anyone knows of a "discrete" service out there where we could "adopt" a gay soldier to send support while deployed. Any ideas? |
| You may have more luck adopting a gay sailor. You know what they say about the navy. |
What season and episode of Grey's Anatomy was the one with the gay soldier who had a brain tumor? His lover came to his room before the surgery was done. Then the patient dies, I believe in surgery. |
| season 2 |
Would you pay your respects to gay soldier killed in action? After all, he fought and died for his country. He is a true patriot.
or
Would you pay him no respect based simply on his sexual preference? |
| Of course. I'd pay my respects for the living ones as well--both gay and straight. |
