What are your feelings on laws regarding public nudity? Nudity helps us to become one with nature. Why cannot one lie nude in a forrest or back yard? I do not believe that anything sexual should occur...becoming one with nature is NOT sexual or wrong in any way. Why do people feel that nudity can only mean sexuality or something impure?
I feel that it is neccessary to lie still, in the nude, and let my mind and spirit free of everything human. all feelings, thoughts, etc. through this, i am able to connect with my mother nature and become more intune to how i can help her. It helps me separate myself from evil things of this world.
So how can you think that something like this should be illegal? It does not make sense to me. Perhaps if more people could do this, without fear of being arrested, there would be less ignorance and intolerance in the world, and it could even help slow down global warming.
What are your thoughts and feelings? | In this way to conservative country the media, hollywood, make a naturism sensationized like its weird to want to be nude among others in public like the Mexico City nude picture of 2700, Naturism Nudism has always existed the Romans, Greeks, Druids, of ancient times had no problems with nudity, in todays world the European attitude is much more advanced and enlightened in attitudes regarding nudism, If we all could be free as our constitution allows in amendment #1 "free exerise of religion" and the declaration of independence has Life, liberty and pursuit of happieness
we all should be able to be free of cloth and be happy...
Live naked and be free of cloth
enjoy naked recreation | I just heard on Bill ORielly that in the state of Oregon public nudity is legal? Is this true? That is sick we have guys seeing this. Im outraged by it, and Vermont lets pedophiles get a get out jail free card. Can anybody comment on this?Have you heard this? | To my surprise, I found this quote "Oregon's law on public nudity is clear - it is not public indecency unless the person engages in sexual intercourse publicly or attempts arousing sexual desire with their self or another person." in an article from KOMO in Seattle (www.komotv.com/news/local/5820376… But by the same token, I have lived in Oregon for a very long time and have never run into the problem described by the people in this article. I also see that Ashland is in the process of passing a public nudity law, so the state may well have laws changing in the near future.
What I have seen is more closely described by this Court of Appeals case, where new residents unknowingly purchased land next to a nude beach. The way the case was handled is typical of how Oregon tends to deal with problems of this nature.
www.publications.ojd.state.or.us/… | Public nudity supreme court ruling? How would you react if the USA supreme court rule that all public nudity laws are illegal? And the nudity laws had to be rewritten before they could be enforces. Would you go nude in public at all? If so where would you be nude. What would you do if you saw a person in the nude? Would it be like wearing bikini (not many girls wore them at first but now most do). What nudity laws would you try to get back on the books? We are not free if the law tell us that we have to wear clothes ( just like the women of the Mideast not free to show their face in public | I think that's totally unrealistic that would happen. Laws don't get passed arbitrarily, and the supreme court doesn't make it a habit of throwing existing laws right out. If anything, they would decide that the laws go over the line and certain areas of the nudity laws would get thrown out.
But to answer your question, would I go nude in public at all? That depends on the situation. I would mow my lawn, wash my car, answer the door nude, I would definitely be nude at home. Depending on peoples attitudes, I may go to the public pool and swim nude, play tennis/certain sports nude, perhaps even jog nude, weather permitting of course. But I would still get dressed to go to work, to the store, to the movies. If I saw a person in the nude, I would react the exact same as if they had clothes on. I interact with people, not fabric.
I think that where society is at right now, it would be irresponsible to do that to people. What's grossly unfair in my opinion are the State/National parks that we all pay for and almost none offer any facilities for clothing free recreation. I wish that all State / National parks would offer an area where clothing free recreation is allowed. Look at it in reverse. How would most people feel if they were required to strip down to use the parks. They wouldn't like that at all, yet its ok for them to do it in the reverse. There something wrong with that. | Is it okay to be nude in public anywhere in Barcelona? I heard that Barcelona Spain is the only place in the world where there is no law against public nudity.
Here is what wikipedia says about it: ''In Barcelona public nudity is a recognized right. Associations Addan, the organization defending the right to nudity, Aleteia and Barcelona Council have published the "Tríptic de Barcelona" that express this and clothes free rights.''
So does this mean that I can simply walk nude on a downtown city sidewalk in broad daylight? | | Yes. | Do you think that American mores/norms/folkways are changing regarding public nudity at places like beaches? I realize that in the States, many if not most people do not approve of nudity at a public beach or a state/national park. However, I have noticed that if someone is nude and observes good time, place, and manner etiquette, that one can be free without hassle. For example, I have been nude at beaches in Galveston, where there are not many people in the evening, and have had no problems, People saw me and said nothing. I have done the same at beaches in South Padre during Spring Break - no trouble. Once, an officer told me to put my thong on - that's it. So, are Americans becoming more tolerant of non-sexual nudity in a natural setting after all? | There are a few places here and there where it is either legal or illegal but allowed but overall I'd say no. For example, here in San Diego, CA we have Blacks Beach -- the longest nude beach in the world. While nudity is illegal here, it is completely tolerated. HOWEVER, if you were to go past the accepted limits of the beach (Mussel Rock to the north and the glider-port trail to the south) you will be ticketed. (Likewise if you're nude and go off into restricted areas or if you engage in sexual acts, of course).
The areas that are nude have been that way for a long time, in most cases. In the case of Blacks, it used to be legal and now it's tolerated but they rolled back the law that legally made it clothing optional. | Public Nudity in Barcelona is legally allowed? Is it true that it is legal to be nude in public in Barcelona?
I read that there is no law against public nudity in Barcelona, Spain. Apparently this means that you can simply walk naked on a city sidewalk and you would not be breaking the law. Am I interpreting this correctly?
Here is what Wikipedia says: ''In Barcelona public nudity is a recognised right. Associations Addan, the organisation defending the right to nudity, Aleteia and Barcelona Council have published the "Tríptic de Barcelona" that express this and clothes free rights.''
I have also seen a few videos on you tube of people in Barcelona walking nude in public. They do not seem to get arrested and the public seems to accept it.
But is this really true? Is public nudity really completely legal in Barcelona? | | Yes sir, and thanks for reminding me. Im going there next month. | Why are nudity and curses allowed on HBO, but not, say TNT or TBS? In fact, all movie channels seem to be exempt from these regulations that are placed on other channels.
With that said, these other channels forbidding is not free public television. It is cable, and in some instances, these channels are not part of a basic channels package.
Does the government will only let you enjoy vulgar language and nudity on the condition that you pay more money? Money makes it okay? | | Because HBO is a private, subscriber cable service and TNT and TBS are broadcast over the airwaves. As to whether or not money makes it okay is a question of morality, not legality. Money makes many, many things possible and even permissible which are not okay. | If public nudity were legalized tomorrow? and your best friend immediately embraced going clothes free whenever the weather permitted it (in places like Hawaii or Puerto Rico that could mean year-round) while you did not (he/she was apparently always a closet nudist- nobody, including you, knew!), would you still be comfortable being seen in public with them? And not just at the beach, but walking down the block, at a coffee shop, at the bowling alley, at a concert? Would you, also, feel comfortable in introducing them to family or friends of yours that they hadn't yet met, coworkers, too? What if they were of the opposite sex? Would that make things different? Or, alternatively, would you, as the nude one, feel comfortable being around your clothed friend? Personally, I'd love it if nudity were recognized as a basic human right (it's natural, normal, comfortable, functional, etc.); recognizing the fact that even if it ever is some (many or most?) folks will never shed their clothes, I'd also love to see a society where clothes free and clothed could exist side by side on a much larger scale than exists now, where family and friends were comfortable with and supportive of each other's respective takes on what would be, yes, basically full-time nudity Your thoughts/what would you do? | Since I'm already a naturist I'd be the friend going nude all the time. I'd love to see nudity become a legally protected right because one's own body is one of the most basic freedoms that are taken away from us with the laws that criminalize the body. I hate that I have to put something on for something as insignificant as going out to the mailbox or running to my car to get something. I'd much rather live in a location that was very secluded and far removed from neighbors, just because I can't stand having neighbors nearby, but nobody should have to go to those lengths to freely live nude. If it was legalized I'd have to wear clothes at work due to OSHA safety regulations but the rest of the time I could be very comfortably nude.
Anyway, yes, I'd be very comfortable to be anywhere with my nude friends regardless of their gender. It would feel strange at first because of the lifetime of conditioning to be afraid to be nude in public places, but that strange feeling would fade as we got used to it. As the nude one I'd be perfectly comfortable to be hanging out with my clothed friends because I already do that at home; I'm the only naturist and all my roommates and their friends remain clothed.
I agree with Brian's reply that people should stop worrying about what other people are wearing. Everybody should have the free right to wear whatever they want to, as well as not wear whatever they want to including being completely nude. A standard societal practice of hygiene would have to be implemented (personal cleanliness, always having a towel to sit on, etc.) but if nudists can get used to doing that, the rest of society can too. | If public nudity were legalized where you live tomorrow, would you walk out of your home naked every morning-? from that point on? That is, if going clothes free were to be recognized as a basic human right, that one's being naked not just at the beach or at a resort, but also at school or at work or while out running errands/etc. were from tomorrow on completely legal, would you put on a stitch of clothing again if the weather/temperature didn't actually call for it?
Furthermore, with going clothes free obviously being an option for people- you couldn't force it on those who don't want to be/go so, that's for sure- would you be willing to be the only one nude in your class? At your workplace? Even if your coworkers and your firm's clients were mostly of the opposite sex and the majority of them stayed clothed? Could you see yourself having a conversation while in the nude with a clothed bank teller, for example? Being stopped by a clothed news reporter from your local TV station and answering some questions on camera while in the nude, knowing that the footage would be shown later on the evening's news?
It's easy to say, I think, something like "yeah, if public nudity were legal, I'd go nude," but is your resolve really such that you could be in the possible minority of those doing it? Just something that I've given some thought, as I believe that the right to be nude should be recognized as a basic human right. Not 100% on whether I could be the only one naked in many settings, though. I think that I could do it, but not entirely sure... | I wouldn't care if I was the only one doing it, I'd do it all the time if I could.
For the news footage-I'd look forward to watching it.
If people were grinning or giggling I'd just smile and bask in the attention.
There's no logical reason to be embarrassed, it's just the natural human body.
I'd even just put clothes on for the weather/temperature and then take everything off once I was at the place I was going. | [POLL] Do you think public nudity should be allowed? Why? Most Americans would view public nudity as morally wrong or disgraceful. They dress up in piles and piles of clothes. But....humans are still animals. Animals do not wear clothes.
One thing that I do not like about modern society is how people always have to refer nudity to something sexual. I mean, can't people be nude without being sexual -.- .
I think that by not allowing people to practice nudity as they did thousands of years ago, many problems have arised.
1) The fear of being naked
2) Pervertism
3) Pedophilia
4) Insecurity about the body
5) The fear of other people's judging one body.
For heaven's sake, we're animals. Animals of the same breed seem to get along. You don't see dogs trying to rape each other. Wild animals are free to roam the land. They don't care if they're naked or not. I mean...whoever heard of a cat who became a rapist. And do cats have insecurity issues?
And god never said on the eighth day "Let there be clothes." I mean, I remember Adam and Eve were naked and were perfectly happy with being naked.
By repressing social nudity, modern society has turned human beings into a bunch of sex-obsessed freaks. | | With the way some people dress, we're almost there anyway. |
